Beginner Squad

(ages 8-13)

Focuses on climbing safety basics and our primary goal of experiencing fun, multi-dimensional activities designed to build confidence, coordination and self-sufficiency in a climbing oriented environment.

Beginners start out learning to put on a harness, belay, and use the holds effectively. Team building games are interspersed with climbing activities to keep the program fresh and the kids interested.

Climbing Club

(all ages by tryout, and those 14+)

Our next step toward the Competitive Team. At this level we concentrate almost exclusively on improving climbing performance with an eye toward moving up to the next level.

Increased emphasis on movement skills and physical conditioning are the core elements to the Climbing Club. The Club is broken up into two tiers, Junior and Advanced depending on age, skill level, and motivation.

Prerequisites: Must pass the Rise Up Climbing belay test, have demonstrated the ability to comfortably climb at a 5.7 level, and receive an instructor recommendation.

Schedule: On-going. Two sessions per week on Tuesday and Thursday from 530-730 pm.

Cost: Rise Up membership plus $70/month (total of $115/month). Also, Climbing Club members are expected to have their own shoes, harness and chalk bag.

Competitive Team

(all ages by tryout)

The Competitive Team is Rise Up’s advanced level of instruction for those looking to pursue competitive and outdoor climbing.

Our goal is for each climber to pursue his or her potential in a supportive but demanding environment. Advanced climbers spend additional time and effort conditioning as well as learning to effectively participate in sanctioned regional competitions, or preparing to climb outside.

Prerequisites: Be able to on-sight 5.9 (10 years and under), 5.10a (11-12 years), or 5.10b (over 12 years).

Schedule: On-going. Two sessions per week on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-7:30 pm.

Cost: Rise Up membership plus $100/month (total $145/month). Also, Advanced Level members are expected to have their own shoes, harness and chalk bag.
